Independent floors offer a viable investment opportunity, either for rental income or long-term capital gains.

Poor Urban Infrastructure and Quality of Life

Major Indian cities, including New Delhi, are plagued by significant urban infrastructure deficiencies and a generally low quality of life. This includes severe traffic congestion, a scarcity of accessible public recreational spaces, and widespread issues with air and water quality. These environmental and infrastructural challenges can profoundly detract from the living experience in residential developments. Extreme poverty, poor sanitation, and safety concerns are also noted in New Delhi's urban landscape.

Our metro cities need to be renovated with world class infrastructure and high quality and affordable public transports.

Well due to huge population. Every one is expendable if you don't want to work in the shit hole, there will be 100 more lining up to replace you. Due to this the governing authorities or the companies don't give a shit about the various problems in the city.

Same with Delhi. All these houses in south Delhi literally have one ageing couple living on the ground floor while the rest of the floors sit empty.

Forget hair fall, Bangalore water will make people fall very sick.

I saw some fucked up shit in Delhi. There was a dude who had essentially no limbs, except for a small arm-like growth coming out of his right shoulder. He used this ‘arm’ to push his limbless torso around on a skateboard.

TS
Tarun S.

Traffic is atrocious, there are few public spaces, and even things like clean water and air are hard to get.

CR
Chaitanya R.

The pollution there is way too bad for it to ever make it to anyone's list to perform.

SN
Sharmila N.

Isn't it a lot to do with lack of planning and foresight? There are basically no public spaces in the newer developments.

SR

I did a Delhi-Agra-Jaipur trip and the three things I remember most are: poverty, pollution, and population.

LS
Lavanya S.

You want like the most brutal levels of poverty ever; go to the inner city slums of New Delhi or any large Indian city. I’ve been all over the slums of Africa; they are not nearly as bad as Indian slums imo.

Intense Work-Life Imbalance

The professional environment in Indian metropolitan areas is often characterized by demanding 'startup hours' and lengthy commutes, leading to a severe work-life imbalance. This leaves individuals with minimal time or energy for personal pursuits, hobbies, or a social life, reducing overall quality of life.

There is no concept of work-life balance, traffic is atrocious, there are few public spaces, and even things like clean water and air are hard to get. Even large corporations are now asking their employees to do "startup hours" and work 10-12 hours a day. The commute takes 2 hours for most of my friends.

I have been waiting for Bangalore Metro since my first year of engineering, and I graduated 6 years ago. The progress is super slow. Only if these politicians and government officials work "startup hours".

Well, as a corporate stooge in one of these metros, I do want to demand better conditions. But I also know it's easier for my employer to find 10 other people to do my job and I'll just be left in the dust.

Broadband & telecommute is the best option, but power hungry manager assholes wont tolerate that.

While I was looking for projects in my old IT jail, one guy told me very proudly that he comes in at 10 and works till 12pm. And I wondered whether to feel sorry about this guy being so fucking delusional or to worry that I might one day turn out to become like him.

Japan certainly is NOT doing well in regards to living condition and corporate work hours in cities like Tokyo. Tokyo has one of the highest real estate rates. It is VERY high. Also the work ethics and culture of Japanese society make it a incredibly normal thing to work 12-14 hours per day. It is frowned upon to work less than that. Japan is certainly excellent in terms of other things but these conditions lead it to having one of the highest suicide rate in the world.

I just couldn't see myself living my life like that (in Bangalore) and thought about it seriously and moved out. It meant starting everything all over again but the peace is well worth it. There is no concept of Work Life Balance.

Exorbitant Property Costs

The cost of residential properties in major Indian metropolitan areas, including Delhi, is exceptionally high. This makes acquiring affordable housing a significant challenge, particularly for those seeking residences near their workplaces. The market for luxury properties is consequently characterized by very steep prices.

Don't get me started about Mumbai rents.. its freaking twice as high as the next most expensive city in India. I personally feel that Mumbai is the worst off compared to how much it actually contributes to GDP and how expensive the city is to live.

RD

Rent is uncontrollably high in most of these places.

Questionable 'Luxury' Standards in Metropolitan Areas

There is a prevalent sentiment that many residential properties in major Indian cities, including Delhi, despite being marketed as 'luxury,' often fall short of acceptable quality and design standards. These properties are sometimes perceived as inferior even when compared to basic global living conditions, raising doubts about the authenticity of their luxury claims.

All the cities you mentioned are overcrowded shitholes. Life in them will be awful.

Houses that wouldn't pass muster even in third world shitholes are passed off 'luxurious' in these cities.

About the same things. They are all equally shitty, some more severe than others.

Response to hard water issues:

"We have initiated the setup of a centralized soft-water plant which is expected to be operational by Q2 2026. This will significantly reduce TDS levels across all towers."
